There are parts of becoming that require prayer, parts that require honest conversations, and parts that require someone who can help you see beyond where you are standing.
Sometimes we need the strength to keep going. Sometimes we need space to admit that we are hurting. Sometimes we need guidance because we have never walked this way before.
That is why I believe there is such a blessing in having Jesus, therapy, and a mentor as we become.
It makes me think about the beauty of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is an illustration of support, of course. Jesus, therapy, and a mentor are not another Trinity, and people cannot take the place of God. But the connection reminds me that we can be loved, helped, and guided in different ways throughout our journey.
The Father: Knowing You Are Loved
When I think about God the Father, I think about belonging. Before the accomplishments, before the titles, before we get everything together, we are already loved.
That truth matters when you are becoming. Growth can bring you face to face with things you wish you had done differently. You may have to acknowledge patterns, confront choices, and begin again. Through it all, you need the assurance that your worth has not disappeared because you have work to do.
My relationship with God gives me that foundation. I can come to Him honestly, knowing I do not have to earn His love by pretending to be whole.
The Son: Being Met in Your Humanity
When I think about Jesus, I think about a Savior who entered our human experience. He knew grief. He experienced rejection. He grew tired. He understood the weight of suffering.
Jesus reminds me that having feelings does not make me faithless.
That is one reason I believe there is room for therapy in the life of a believer. Therapy offers a place to speak honestly about what we are carrying, recognize patterns, and learn healthier ways to respond.
A therapist is not a savior. But receiving professional support does not diminish our need for Jesus or our trust in Him.
You can love the Lord and still need help processing what happened to you. You can pray and still make the appointment. You can believe God is working while learning how to communicate, set boundaries, and care for yourself.
The Holy Spirit: Guidance for the Journey
When I think about the Holy Spirit, I think about God’s presence, comfort, conviction, and guidance.
A mentor cannot replace the Holy Spirit. Still, a wise mentor can encourage us to listen, ask questions that make us reflect, and share wisdom that helps us take our next step.
Sometimes a mentor sees potential we have been afraid to acknowledge. Sometimes she challenges an excuse we have grown comfortable with. Sometimes she reminds us of what God has already placed in us.
The right mentor helps you grow in discernment. She does not require you to depend on her for every decision.
Different Roles, Room for Each
Jesus is my Savior and the foundation of my faith. Therapy provides professional support for emotional and mental health. A mentor offers wisdom, perspective, encouragement, and accountability.
There is room for each.
Some things I need to bring before God in prayer. Some things I need to unpack with a qualified therapist. Some things I need to discuss with someone whose wisdom and experience can help me grow.
Becoming has taught me that strength includes knowing when to receive support.
Sis, you do not have to prove your faith by struggling in silence. You do not have to know everything before seeking guidance. And you do not have to wait until you are overwhelmed to make room for help.
Pray. Have the honest conversation. Make the appointment. Connect with someone whose life reflects the wisdom and character you hope to grow in.
You are allowed to be a woman of faith who needs support.
You are allowed to be growing and still have questions.
You are allowed to be becoming and be cared for along the way.
Jesus, therapy, and a mentor. There is a blessing in having support for the woman you are becoming.
With love,
Lady Mica
